The Apple Watch Series 9 (released September 2023) introduced the S9 chip and, with it, the Double Tap gesture \u2014 a feature that lets users control the Watch by tapping index finger and thumb together, without touching the screen. This gesture relies on the accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart rate sensor working in continuous low-power polling mode. It draws from the battery at all times, alongside Always-On Display and the background SpO2 sensor. Series 9 is the most power-feature-dense Watch Apple has shipped, and a sub-capacity replacement cell shows up in runtime shortfall faster than on any earlier generation.<\/p>\n

Battery P\/N is A2954 for the 41mm case (282mAh \/ 3.86V) and A3009 for the 45mm case (308mAh \/ 3.86V). The 3.86V nominal voltage is distinct from Series 6 (3.85V) and Series 5\/SE (3.82V) \u2014 these are not interchangeable PCM specs. Our cells are PCM-matched to the S9’s 3.86V charge profile, with overcharge cutoff calibrated accordingly.<\/p>\n
